Face-Lift.us PHYSICIAN PROFILE  Dr. Borko Djordjevic (pronounced Jor’-ja-vik) A distinguished physician in his field for many years, Dr. Djordjevic has always remained at the forefront of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery’s latest advances. Board qualified by the American Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and a fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS), Dr. Djordjevic specializes in general plastic surgery, as well as aesthetic and reconstructive surgery including facelifts, rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, chemical peels, breast augmentation and reduction, arm, leg, hip and abdominal reductions and reshaping, liposuction, and genitalia repair and reconstruction.
BACKGROUND Dr. Djordjevic served as Chief Resident in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Surgery of the Hand and Genitalia, and Cosmetic Surgery at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio and has continued his education at such prestigious institutions as Stanford and Northwestern Universities. Dedicated to learning new techniques, he has attended international symposiums with some of the world’s foremost surgeons. Dr. Djordjevic has also been published in numerous books and medical journals. In Belgrade, Dr. Djordjevic served as Associate Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Belgrade School of Medicine. He was a Contributing Editor of the University’s Journal of Medical Research and Director of the Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship Training Program. In 1994, he received a special appointment by former President Jimmy Carter to assist the Carter Center of Atlanta, Georgia in its efforts to further peace in Bosnia and Yugoslavia and was personally responsible for bringing President Carter to Bosnia. COMMITMENT First and foremost, Dr. Djordjevic’s commitment is to communicating with his patients to understand their goals and desires in having surgery. He believes it is important to take care of each patient’s psychological being, as well as physical being. “The patient’s underlying motivation must be considered before surgery,” he explains. “For instance, if an individual has experienced a loss in the family, such as a wife 's losing her husband, she is searching for a way to feel better. But the procedure, no matter how successful, won 't fix the real source of her distress. Once she comes to terms with the loss, though, the surgery can have a very positive effect." Dr. Djordjevic 's techniques have been honed to perfection. After recently spending four years in his native Yugoslavia helping wounded war victims and operating under the most primitive conditions, his touch became even more sensitive and precise. Working in a crisis atmosphere, with much at stake, his dexterity and ingenuity were stretched to the limit. As a result, he accomplished more in less time and learned how to further shorten the recovery period for his patients.
